These are my handwritten Communication Networks notes from third year, first semester, Electronics and Communication Engineering at BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus.
Networks seem abstract until you follow a packet from one end to the other. The OSI model gives you layers. TCP/IP gives you how those layers behave in practice. Routing algorithms, network protocols, and performance analysis fill in the rest. The goal is to understand how data moves reliably across systems that were never designed to agree.
I worked through all of it by explaining it. Teaching friends and classmates until I could make it simple. Understanding something deeply enough to teach it is the highest form of mastery.
These notes cover the OSI and TCP/IP models, routing algorithms, network protocols, and performance analysis.
In 2013, from a hostel room, I put my handwritten notes online at akshansh.net. Since then, at least one person in the world has studied from my notes every day. They are free.
The full notes are a PDF embedded right here on this page. Read through them on this page, or open and download the file to keep a copy.
