These are my Digital Image Processing MATLAB lab notes. Third year, second semester, Electronics and Communication Engineering at BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus.
In 2013, from a hostel room, I started putting my notes online so anyone who needed them could use them. Teaching friends and classmates is how I learned. Understanding something deeply enough to teach it is the highest form of mastery. Since then, at least one person in the world studies from my notes every single day. They are free.
The lab covers implementing filters, edge detection algorithms, and image analysis techniques in MATLAB. Image processing has a visual logic that clicks when you run the code. You apply a filter and the image changes in front of you. You run edge detection and the structure of the image appears in a different form. The algorithm stops being a formula and becomes something you can see working.
This page pairs with my Digital Image Processing lecture notes, which live on a separate page. The full lab material is a PDF embedded on this page. Read it here, or open and download it.
